According to Nausicaa.net, the new English language dubbed version of Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind will get a limited theatrical release in the U.S. this summer.  The English version, which features the voices of Alison Lohman, Uma Thurman, and Patrick Stewart, was just released on DVD.  The theatrical release will give hardcore fans a chance to see this ravishingly beautiful epic on the big screen and could stir up additional interest in the DVD.

Meanwhile, this weeks edition of Entertainment Weekly gave the Nausicaa DVD an 'A' grade in an illustrated article, which included the subhead: 'Be sure to expose your youngsters to Nausicaa, the animated Japanese girl-power classic.'  The article, written by Ty Burr, pegs Nausicaa as a 'tweens and up fantasy' that looks back to Frank Herbert's Dune and forward to Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke.'  Although Nausicaa, the first feature Miyazaki directed for Studio Ghibli, came out in 1984, the film, unlike much of the anime of its era, is not dated in the slightest -- it remains a timeless fantasy/science fiction classic that retailers can recommend to adults as well as tweens.
