The CBS television network has ordered seven half-hour episodes of Creature Comforts, a stop-motion animated series from Aardman Animations, the company behind the Oscar-nominated Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Wererabbit animated feature.  Nick Park, the creative genius behind Wallace & Gromit, received an Oscar for the original Creature Comforts animated short, which was produced in 1990.  The CBS Creature Comforts series will be produced in England and Los Angeles, with King of the Hill scribe Kit Boss serving as executive producer.  Even with several production units working on the series, it will take at least a year to produce the seven episodes, which won't debut on CBS until January 2007 at the earliest.

In Creature Comforts the voices of real people commenting on everyday situations are put in the mouths of animals, a juxtaposition that provides a surprising amount of satirical bite.  A UK TV version of Creature Comforts was a big hit on the ITV network last year.
