It’s not the first time state patriotism has been utilized as a variant cover theme. DC did it with Justice League of America #1 in 2013 to a big response (see "52 Variants Garner Million Dollar Book"). Marvel did its own version of the promotion that year with Uncanny X-Men #1 (see "The 'Deadpool 53 State Birds' Variant Cover"). Now U.S. Avengers #1 will join the group (see '"Marvel Debuts 'U.S. Avengers'").
