Sponsored. Pokémon ex originally debuted almost 20 years ago in EX Ruby & Sapphire and were a mainstay in the Pokémon TCG until EX Power Keepers in 2007. Now they're back in Scarlet & Violet, and while they may look a bit different, they maintain the essence of the original mechanic—powerful two-Prize Pokémon that can also evolve from one-Prize Pokémon. Pokémon ex look similar to the more recent Pokémon-EX from the Black & White Series and the XY Series, but Pokémon-EX were almost always Basic Pokémon, while Pokémon ex can appear at any stage of Evolution!
Pokémon ex are not only powerful, they grant flexibility. Since Pokémon ex can evolve from Pokémon that only give up one Prize card, they provide an extra layer to deck building and how you approach your game-winning strategy! If you need high HP and sheer power, Lechonk can evolve into Oinkologne ex. However, if you need to avoid giving up more than one Prize card, you also have the option of evolving Lechonk into Oinkologne.
Paldea's Terastal Phenomenon
The Paldea region is home to the Terastal phenomenon, which gives Pokémon a shimmering, crystalline look and an ornate jewel upon their heads—strengthening the Pokémon as they shine bright on the battlefield. In the Pokémon TCG, Tera Pokémon don the same ornate jewel, strengthening their resolve and making them immune to attack damage while they're on the Bench.
