One World, Many Games
Beginning with Kinfire Chronicles: Night's Fall (SKU: AYA10010102), game designer Kevin Wilson wanted to do more than a one-off fantasy campaign game.  Instead, he wanted to create a world that players could return to again and again.  The idea was that every new game set in Atios (the world of Kinfire) would either introduce or expand upon some element of the setting, and ideally represent a gaming style that hadn't yet been addressed in the game line.

This way players could come to Kinfire in a number of different ways, and even if not all the games fit their tastes, the lore would be available for them to dig into if they wanted.  Furthermore, the games would all share a central cast of characters, and game concepts would be adapted from one game to the next so that loyal fans would find familiar game elements to ease them in.

Atios 101: Kinfire Chronicles
The first Kinfire game to release, Kinfire Chronicles: Night's Fall (SKU: AYA10010102), was designed as an epic campaign game with as little barrier to entry as possible.  Players can begin playing within 15 minutes of opening the box, learning the rules as they go, and each quest takes less than an hour to play.

Just as the world of Atios is introduced to them in bite-sized pieces, the rules are actually broken up into 4 smaller rulebooks that the game doles out to them over the first few quests before dropping them off in the small town of Vinna, where they're allowed to roam and get used to things before eventually moving on to Atios' largest city, Din'Lux.  Each combat in the campaign varies widely, and none of the enemies repeat, while players are encouraged to customize their Seekers (the setting's heroes) with a library of scores of cards for use in battle.  Kinfire Chronicles: Night's Fall weaves a tale of camaraderie in the face of overwhelming threats and culminates in a grand finale that no player will ever forget.

But What About the Dungeons?: Kinfire Delve
The next game, Kinfire Delve (SKU: AYA11010001), was designed as a more puzzle-y experience for 1-2 players with a smaller budget.  The idea was to explore what kind of dungeons the Seekers might encounter in Atios, but to avoid the bland grey and brown stone corridors so common to the genre.  Following some inspiration from the videogame Psychonauts, the "Wells" of Atios were designed around the idea of powerful entities known as Well Master.  Each Well reflects the conscious and subconscious mind of its Master, with reality warping to fit their whims.  That way, each Well is limited only by imagination, with everything the players encounter being inspired by and tied back to the Master's personality and theme.

Three standalone boxes of Kinfire Delve have been released, each containing 2 Seekers, a Well, and its Master.  Owning multiple boxes increases the player count to 1-4, with the Seekers being swappable between the different Wells.  Players who enjoy a self-contained, shifting puzzle that plays out in under an hour will find what they're looking for with any of the three Kinfire Delve releases.

Politics and Strategy: Kinfire Council
The third Kinfire game, Kinfire Council (SKU:AYA12020001), will be released later this year.  This time around, Wilson has decided to create a worker placement strategy game for 2-6 players in which they serve as the City Council of Din'Lux, guiding the city after the events of Night's Fall.  Although Din’Lux has been explored in Kinfire Chronicles, this is a further look at the city's politics and citizens.  In addition, while the viewpoint shifts away from the Seekers that the players have followed since the beginning of Kinfire, they still appear in the game as some of the players' loyal workers.  Each Seeker also acquires a small cast of friends and acquaintances that are depicted as the other workers in the game.

This is the first competitive game of the Kinfire line (although solo and co-op play will be available with the Winds of Change Expansion), and is designed to appeal to gamers who like euro-style strategy games with richer, more integrated themes.  Players take turns working to meet the needs of Din'Lux, solve its problems, and build up the city and its surrounding areas.  In the meantime, the Cult of Altan, a villainous group first encountered in Kinfire Chronicles, works to undermine them, and can even win the game.  However, a cunning (if unprincipled) member of the Council can ally with the Cult, perhaps even seizing victory from the jaws of what would've otherwise been a last place finish.  Kinfire Council presents players with a tactically-crunchy series of decisions as they work to enact their strategies and prove themselves to be the greatest Councilor of Din'Lux.

Your Invitation to Atios
Kinfire Council is the boldest step into Atios yet, inviting both strategy gamers and lore-lovers to shape the future of Din'Lux.  Whether you are a retailer looking to bring an expansive, growing universe to your customers or a player ready to dive deeper into a world of politics, power, and shifting alliances, now is the time to join the Kinfire journey.  The city is calling.  Are you ready to take your seat at the Council?
