There are some excellent home entertainment offerings including (at long last) a Teen Titans animated feature that harkens back to the classic Titans comic book sagas of the 1980s rather than the kid-targeting Titans cartoons of the past decade, plus the Heroes Reborn miniseries, and Ken Burns’ superb documentary about Jackie Robinson.

In the box office equivalent of a photo finish, it appears that the Melissa McCarthy R-rated comedy The Boss has dethroned Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in what must be described as a lackluster weekend in theaters with the total of the top 12 films dropping almost 24% behind the numbers posted a year ago when Furious 7 topped the frame with $59.6 million.

It’s a very strong week for home entertainment releases, led by J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with the latest seasons of Doctor Who and The Expanse, the brilliant comedy series Episodes , and a bevy of great anime titles including a new Ghost in the Shell movie and an Attack on Titan OVA.

Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice easily took the box office crown for the second week in a row, but the film’s $52.4 million 3-day total represented one of the biggest plunges in the history of superhero tentpole movies.
