The futuristic reboot of Zorro, Z, has found its leading man in Gael Garcia Bernal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bernal (Y Tu Mama Tambien, The Motorcycle Diaries. Mozart in the Jungle) will star as the masked vigilante who protects the downtrodden people in this futuristic version of the Zorro story.

Jonas Cuaron (Gravity) wrote the script (see "Early February Geek Movie News Round-Up").  Lantica Media is financing the project, with Pantelion Films handing international distribution. Mark Amin and Albert Martinez Martín will produce the feature. Cami Winikoff, David W. Higgins and Antonio Gennari will serve as executive producers.

Dynamite Entertainment has put out numerous Zorro comics, most recently Django/Zorro (see "Preview: 'Django / Zorro' TP") and a collection which features Lady Zorro (see "Preview: 'Swords of Sorrow: The Complete Saga' TP").
