In the works since 2004 (see 'Spider-Man: The Musical'), plans for a Spider-Man musical are finally taking shape with a casting notice and reading scheduled for July, according to Playbill.

Bono and The Edge are still doing the music and Julie Taymor (Lion King) is still set to direct, but Neil Jordan (Crying Game) has been replaced by Glen Berger to write.  Marvel Entertainment will produce along with Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle and Martin McCallum.

The cast will include roles for Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Mary Jane, Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, J. Jonah Jameson, a woman who appears in many different forms throughout, and a 'Geek Chorus' comprised of three teenage boys and one girl who will 'meet to ritualistically retell the greatest Spider-Man stories.'
