Jay Bardyla of Happy Harbor Comics in Edmonton, Alberta noted the differences between the U.S. and Canada on holiday shipping recently:

I'm just curious.  The Canadian holiday on May 21 delayed Canadian retail release dates by one day, from Wednesday to Thursday, but had no impact on American retailers.  However, the American holiday on May 28 ALSO affected Canadian retailers by one day even though the American holiday had zero impact on shipping schedules into Canada.

Everyone in this business knows the habitual nature of comic buyers and any time the shipment is delayed, it causes a disruption in sales.  Granted we won't lose sales but it will take weeks to recover from the disruption.  Imagine how Canadian retailers felt when we had to suffer TWO off weeks!  It especially hurts when we have to bow down to an American holiday but Americans get to ignore ours.  Wasn't there a big stink recently about 'level playing fields' when an issue of Civil War didn't get to everyone at the same time?
