Abdo Publishing has released 28 32-page, 7'x 9' library-bound graphic novels (priced to libraries at $18.95) in four series of six to eight titles each under the Graphic Planet imprint as part of its Magic Wagon line.  The four series are Graphic Classics, Graphic Horror, Bio-Graphics, and Graphic History.  Many of the volumes were produced under contract by Antarctic Press.  Abdo plans to release trade editions in the future.

 

In addition to its publishing operation for libraries (Abdo is in its 25th year), Abdo also does library bindings of graphic novels from Archie, Marvel, and NBM. 

 

Abdo's new Graphic Classics series includes three volumes adapted by Rod Espinosa (Around the World in 80 Days, Moby Dick, and Peter Pan) and three by Ben Dunn (Robin Hood, The Time Machine, and White Fang).

 

The Graphic Horror series includes The Creature from the Depths (adapted and illustrated by Mark Kidwell), Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (adapted and illustrated by Jason Ho), Frankenstein (adapted by Elizabeth Genco, art by Jason Ho), The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (adapted and illustrated by Jeff Zornow), Mummy (adapted by Bart Thompson, art by Brian Miroglio), and Werewolf (by Jeff Zornow). 

 

The Bio-Graphics series includes four titles with story and art by Rod Espinosa (Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Lewis & Clark, and Patrick Henry), two titles with story by Joe Dunn and art by Espinosa (Abraham Lincoln and Jackie Robinson), and two titles by Joe and Ben Dunn (Anne Frank and The Wright Brothers). 

 

The Graphic History Series includes three titles written and drawn by Espinosa (Battle of the Alamo, Boston Tea Party, and Underground Railroad), three by Joe and Ben Dunn (California Gold Rush, Miracle on Ice, and Titanic), and two written by Joe Dunn, with art by Joseph Wight and Espinosa (Bombing of Pearl Harbor and Moon Landing).
