Animenation is reporting (via Moon Phase) that the 14-episode, cult hit anime series The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will be back for a second season on Japanese TV. 

 

The genre-bending series whose devotees in Japan are known as 'Haruhists' has become a major hit around the world.  Bandai Entertainment, which holds the North American license for the series, confirmed to ICv2 that the first The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya DVD, which shipped to retail on May 29th, has already become the company's best-selling release of the year by far.

 

The second season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was first revealed in a full-page ad in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper and later confirmed on the show's official Website.
