Boom! Studios will release Pulp Tales, a one-shot comic to benefit comic artist Josh Medors, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Two covers will be offered. The $3.99 edition will feature art by Ben Templesmith, and a special “donation cover” with art by Medors will retail for $9.99.
Retailers can see the complete art at the Boom! Studios retailer-only blog; applying for admission from the company’s Website or by e-mail, (for more information, see “Boom! Launches Retailer-only Blog”.
Five stories will be included:
“Limbo’s Assassin,” a prose story by Steve Niles, with illustrations by Sarah Wilkinson, is a macabre story of crime and punishment.
“Bluejacket,” by B. Clay Moore and Seth Peck, with art by Chris Samnee, is a former 1930s crimefighter who’s now a corporate mogul.
“Newt Lawman and the Secrets of the Valley” is a western story by Josh Fialkov and Andy B.
“The Crescent Flame,” written by Kody Chamberlain.
“Crash Winters: Palooka P.I.,” by Tony Fleecs.
Dan Taylor edited the book and Ed Dukeshire designed it, both donating their time.
Boom! EIC Mark Waid put the project in perspective. “This is an industry that deals with men and women who are larger than life, who by all rights could cure cancer in an afternoon,” he said. “But those heroes can’t do that, even in a world of limitless possibility—the are powerless because we are. Using Pulp Tales to raise money for Josh Medors proves just how powerful comics and their fans can be in the face of adversity, and the important thing here is showing Josh and his family how true that is.”
All proceeds from the sale of Pulp Tales will go to Josh Medors and his family.
