Dabel Brothers Publishing has announced that it has acquired an original story by bestselling author Dean Koontz, which they will publish as a comic and graphic novel. First release will be as a five-shot comic miniseries between February and June 2009, to be followed by a graphic novel edition distributed by Del Rey.
Del Rey was very successful with its release of a graphic novel based on Koontz’s Odd Thomas character, and has acquired rights for a second (see “Del Rey Snags Second Odd Thomas”).
The Koontz story the Dabels have acquired, Nevermore, will be written by comic writer Keith Champagne (Flash, Superman, Ghostbusters) from an outline by Koontz, with art by Andy Smith (Spider-Man, X-Men, 52). It’s a science fiction story about cross-time travel and an alien hive-like race that’s conquering parallel earths, and perhaps heading our way.
