This book collects a three-part mini series.  The story seemed like a natural, with each team featuring a “good” Skrull suddenly faced with the invasion of their chosen home by the people of their former home.  In fact, it’s even more tightly tied to the story, as Hulkling, the half-Skrull Young Avenger and the Runaway Xavin are both targeted by the Skrull religious fanatics.

The story mostly centers on the Runaways, with cameo appearances by most of the Young Avengers, although Hulkling and a couple of others take direct action in the story.  That made it less of a crossover than it might have been, but the story is interesting, and shows that not all Skrulls think the same way, or have the same agenda.  Chris Yost did a good job of telling a Secret Invasion side story.

The only flaw in this story was the odd choice of artists.  Takeshi Miyazawa draws the entire series in the style of a full color manga, with the result that everything is just a bit too pretty, even the Skrull invaders.  Miyazawa’s artwork was a better choice for Marvel’s Mary Jane comic, and for the Robotech work that he has also done.  In this case, it’s a bit distracting, especially in battle scenes.
