Rembert Parker of Reader Copies in Anderson Indiana writes in to share an idea about comic publishers producing sampler comics for the year-end shipping skip week:
Marvel and DC have already announced their plans to make exclusive comics available to retailers for the last week of the year, a week when Diamond will not be shipping any new comics. Perhaps a few other companies should look into the possibility. Unlike Free Comic Book Day, when the promotional comics companies are offering can easily get lost in the shuffle, that week there will not be any new comics available when clueless customers come in looking for something to read.
Our store will be more than happy to pay for and hold books for an extra week if companies manage to solicit special comics that absolutely, positively will ship a week early. It would be a great time to put out some comic samplers when the big guys aren't shipping 40 or 50 titles!
