At the San Diego Comic-Con International, Comics One announced a comic book version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that will be illustrated by veteran martial arts comic artist Andy Seto (Cyber Weapons Z).  The first 120-page, full color volume in the series is set for November release and it will carry a cover price of $13.95.

Ang Lee's film version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was a huge hit -- the first subtitled film to earn over $100 million at the U.S. box office.  Lee's film portrayed the events that happened at the end of book four of the 5-volume Crouching Tiger epic series of novels by Wang Du Lu, while the Comics One series will cover volumes 3-5 of the original series, thus providing readers with the earlier exploits of Li Mu Bai and Shu Lien and explaining the emotional entanglement between the two characters that formed the heart of Ang Lee's film.  Subsequent volumes of the Comics One series will show what happened to Shu Lien after the death of her beloved Li Mu Bai.

Retailers will find quite a bit of other Crouching Tiger merchandise available including the DVD of the film (available in both regular and superbit versions -- see 'Columbia Aims Super Bit DVDs At Collectors'), plus action figures (see 'Art Asylum Unveils Crouching Tiger Figures'), and 'kubricks' from Art Asylum.
