The Hero Initiative will launch The Dick Giordano Humanitarian of the Year Award at this year’s Baltimore Comicon as part of the Harvey Awards Banquet.  Giordano was on the board of Hero Initiative, the organization that helps veteran comic creators in medical or financial need. 

The award will “recognize one person in comics each year who has demonstrated the generosity and integrity Dick brought to the charity and to the comic book community at large,” the organization said. 

Giordano passed away earlier this year (see “R.I.P. Dick Giordano”).
