A press release issued yesterday by Cold Cut Comics Distribution stating that Cold Cut 'is the only distributor to offer Future Comics to retailers' is in error.  ICv2 contacted FM International CEO Wayne Markley, who was quick to point out that not only is FM carrying Future Comics, but also that Future Comics would be on the cover of FM's next monthly catalog, Request Line.  Future Comics has chosen to bypass the market's leading distributor, Diamond in hopes of forging a closer bond with retailers (see 'Future Comics Launches This Month').  The decision to sell through FM and Cold Cut is an attempt by Future Comics to make it easier for smaller retail operations to carry their books.

Cold Cut plans to handle Future Comics on a reorder basis, the same way the distributor handles everything.  According to Tim Stroup of Cold Cut, 'As soon as each new issue is published, we can offer it to the retailers as part of our normal ordering process.'  Unlike Cold Cut, FM International offers retailers a chance to pre-order titles via a monthly catalog (FM Request Line) as well as providing reorder sales after the books are published.
