Andy Battaglia of Comics Etc. in Rochester, New York shares his thoughts on DC’s promotional posters and DC's icon cover month.
This week I received 80, count them, 80 posters from DC clamoring about holding the line at $2.99. DC issued a freight credit of 2 cents per poster, for a grand total of $1.60 for 11 pounds! Please, DC explain on what planet you can send this weight for that price. One poster was more than I needed and the rest of the shelf talkers, etc. went straight into the trash where they belong.
Also, it’s bad enough that the DC covers this month are devoid of information on the cover, but now we’re supposed to cover them on the racks with shelf talkers. I don’t think so. It’s hard enough trying to sell comics from publishers who have no clue and constantly place logos on the bottoms of comics where no one can see them, but now DC thinks it wise to hide the comic entirely so no one will purchase it.
Quite frankly, I can’t point to a single publisher who understands merchandising.
