Final Chance To Reverse Retailer Obscenity Conviction
Posted by ICv2 on November 4, 2002 @ 11:00 pm CT

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund board of directors has voted unanimously to appeal the 'display of obscenity' conviction of Texas comic retailer Jesus Castillo to the U.S. Supreme Court. The conviction has been through two state-level appeals, neither of which was successful (see 'Second Castillo Appeal Denied'). CBLDF counsel has told the non-profit organization that the Supreme Court appeal will cost no less than $10,000. The CBLDF urgently needs additional contributions to continue its work (to donate, click here). Retailers can also bid on a store appearance by Wildstorm's Jim Lee in a special auction on eBay that started Tuesday (click here for the eBay auction).
