Sales of comics and graphic novels in comic stores dropped 11.21% vs. the previous year in May according to numbers reported by Diamond Comic Distributors, the second worst month of the year so far since January, when comics and graphic novel sales declined over 20%. Periodicals suffered a more precipitous decline than graphic novels: comic sales were down 14.39%, while graphic novels declined 4.42%.
That brings year to date comics and graphic novel sales down 7.51% through May, with comics down 8.5% and graphic novels down 5.41%.
