Marvel has released some interior art from the first issue in Magneto: Not a Hero, the 4-issue miniseries written by Skottie Young with art by Clay Mann (Age of X).  Mann also provides the cover for the first issue of the series, which will debut on November 9th (see “Magneto: Not a Hero”).

The relationship between the events in Magneto: Not a Hero and the ongoing X-Men: Regenesis event are not all clear yet, but it does appear from the pages released that the Master of Magnetism may have gone rogue.  The first page cleverly depicts an anti-mutant rally of the type that appears almost guaranteed to get Magneto’s blood boiling.  Mann illustrates the scene in part via a camcorder screen, which provides an interesting perspective on the sort of anti-mutant rally sequence that been depicted many times over the course of X-Men history.

In the second panel released by Marvel it clearly looks like Magneto has gone rogue and wreaked some mutant vengeance on the hatemongers at the rally, though without dialogue balloons it doesn’t pay to speculate too much.

The final page shows members of the Avengers.  Have they received news of the massacre at the rally?
