IDW Publishing has announced that the first issue of Smoke and Mirrors, a new creator-owned title written by Mike Costa (G.I. Joe: Cobra, Blackhawk) and illustrated by indie artist Ryan Browne (God Hates Astronauts, Blast Furnace). But the creative team on Smoke and Mirrors includes another member, sleight of hand maven and consulting Imagineer for Disney Entertainment, Jon Armstrong.
Armstrong helped infuse Smoke and Mirrors with mind-bending illusions and mentalism principles to create a “magical” experience using only ink and paper. On the most literal level Smoke and Mirrors is the story of stage magician Terry Ward, who finds himself transported to a world where magic is real and he must use trickery and illusions to survive.
The first of five 32-page issues of Smoke and Mirrors will be available in stores in March of 2012 with a cover price of $3.99.
