Rembert Parker of Reader Copies in Anderson, Indiana read the various comments regarding the sales performance of DC's New 52 #2s (see "George Melton of Empire Comics on DC's New 52 #2s Sales" and "Andy Battaglia of Comics Etc. on DC's New 52 #2s Sales") and had this to say.
I read the two recent comments from retailers who seem to have lots of month two comics to return, and simply wanted to indicate that their experience isn't universal. Our sales have held solid through the second month, and it's the third month where we are seeing some serious decreases on a few titles.
Since we put lots of pressure on our customers to create pull lists for the new DC comics and to keep their pull lists up to date, we've been able to drop our orders on many titles, but there is a solid core of comics where sales remain above our initial orders and we are placing reorders for issue 1's and 2's every week (and this week we even had to reorder three of the number threes). The ability to modify our orders three weeks before shipping allows us to walk the wall, count the remaining issues for each title, and adjust our orders properly using our initial orders and reorders--and in some cases, adjust our orders higher.
As far as we're concerned, the new 52 has been the most successful boost to our comic sales since Marvel's Civil War. Thanks, DC!
