Comic retailer Michael George was sentenced to life in prison Monday following his conviction on first degree murder and other charges at his second trial, according to The Detroit News. The conviction in the first trial was thrown out due to prosecutorial misconduct and the introduction of new evidence, but the outcome was the same in the second (see “Michael George Convicted in Second Trial”).
George continued to maintain that he did not murder his wife in his comic store at the sentencing. “Let’s not forget that no one saw me there—no one,” he said. And he appears to be planning to continue the legal fight; George’s attorney said that he would file for acquittal and a new trial next week.
