James O’Barr, creator of The Crow, is returning to comics, IDW Publishing announced. Debuting in December, The Crow: Skinning The Wolves is a three-issue miniseries dispatching the dark, vengeance-fueled anti-hero to a European concentration camp in 1945, near the end of World War II.
Each issue of this new mini-series, which will reveal a previously unknown incarnation of the titular character, is 32 pages in length and will cost $3.99. O’Barr did the layouts and rough story outline for the series years ago, but never found time to finish it. Jim Terry (The Cave), billed as "co-artist," was helped O’Barr complete the job.
A Crow movie has been in development for a while (see "'The Crow' Remake Back on Track"). The current version has director F. Javier Gutierrez attached, with Edward R. Pressman (who also produced the 1994 version) producing.
