Robotech RPG Tactics, the collaboration between Palladium Books and Ninja Division (see "Preview: 'Robotech RPG Tactics'"), has raised more than $1,442,000, over 20 times its original goal, from more than 5,000 backers at the May 20th close of its Kickstarter campaign to fund the game. It has become the fifth highest grossing tabletop game project on Kickstarter (see "Top Ten Tabletop Game Kickstarters")--behind Reaper’s Bones ($3.4 million), Zombicide: Season 2 ($2.2 million), Kingdom Death: Monster ($2 million), and Dwarven Forge’s Game Tiles ($1.9 million).
Originally targeting $70,000, the campaign nearly doubled that goal in the first 24 hours after posting (see "'Robotech RPG Tactics' Blows through Goal"). It quickly added stretch goals that included backer level upgrades, free bonus items and purchase add-ons if pledgers increased their original pledge. Most of the goals included new units and upgrades to existing mechs, as well as bonus decals, faction dice and upgraded game cards.
Both the Kickstarter supporter and trade releases are expected in December 2013.
