Vertical, Inc. will launch Attack on Titan: Before the Fall, the light novel series tied to the hit manga and anime Attack on Titan in July 2014, the company announced at New York Comic Con. Over 25 million copies of the 11 volumes of the manga series have been sold in Japan, and Kodansha is doubling down with three new manga series and a Guidebook planned in addition to the monthly release of the core series (see "Kodansha Readies More 'Attack on Titan' Titles").
The three-volume light novel series, written by Ryo Suzukazea and illustrated by Thores Shibamoto, wrapped up earlier this year in Japan. Volumes 2 and 3 of the U.S. editions will follow roughly quarterly after the launch in July, wrapping up in early 2015.
The core manga series has been tearing up the bestseller charts in the book channel (see "'Attack on Titan' Passed 'The Walking Dead'").
