Marvel has announced an exclusive agreement with Mahmud A. Asrar, who was recently assigned to Wolverine and the X-Men (see "'Wolverine & The X-Men' #1"). "CB Cebulski knew I had a weak spot for Wolverine so he asked if I’d be interested in doing Wolverine and the X-Men with Jason Latour. The lure worked and I just couldn’t resist jumping on board," Asrar said.
Asrar’s past work includes Dynamo 5 for Image and Supergirl for DC, as well as Nova, Ultimate Comics: X-Men, Indestructible Hulk and Iron Man Vol. 3: The Secret Origin of Tony Stark Book 2 for Marvel.
This is the first major exclusive signing announcement from either Marvel or DC for some time. Big Two creator exclusive agreements were more common in the past but less so recently, as Greg Rucka noted in an interview last year (see "Greg Rucka Slams the Big Two"). Whether this portends a new period of competition for talent with exclusive signigs is not clear, but it's one.
