The classic 'kaiju' warrior Ultraman, created by Eiji Tsuburaya (aka the father of Godzilla) in 1966, is coming to the U.S. courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, whose 10-issue Ultraman Tiga series represents the first time that Ultraman Tiga comics have been translated into English.  Ultraman is best known as a live action TV series that features ingenious model shots and actors in rubber suits portraying 100-foot tall monsters.  Ultraman Tiga is one of the most recent versions of the classic Ultraman character -- and the live action Ultraman Tiga was part of the Fox Box programming for 2002-2003 put together by 4 Kids Entertainment (see 'Kinnikuman Anime, Live Action Ultraman on Fox in the Fall').  Unfortunately for Dark Horse Ultraman Tiga is not on the Fox Box schedule for next fall, but there is no telling where this character will turn up.

Tony Wong is writing the Dark Horse Ultraman Tiga comic and Khoo Fuk Lung will provide the art.  Ultraman Tiga #1 arrives in comic shops on August 27, with a retail price of $3.99.
