Cryptozoic Entertainment has announced the third quarter release of its fifth DC Comics trading card set, Epic Battles, which celebrates seven significant crossover events from the past 30 years. This set will also introduce a new premium "Cryptomium" card stock.
The base set includes 63 cards with all new artwork, printed on Cryptozoic’s new Cryptomium stock--which is a 30pt composite foil stock, rather than the 20pt C2S stock previously used, so that the base cards have a “luxe look and feel.”
The seven events covered from the DC timeline include: Crisis on Infinite Earths (1985), Panic in the Sky (1992), Bloodlines (1993), Zero Hour (1994), Blackest Night (2009), Flashpoint (2011) and Trinity War (2013). A moment from each story is depicted in a large composition which is presented as a nine-card puzzle. The seven puzzles comprise the 63-card base card set.
Base set parallels include Green (1:5 packs), Rainbow (1:10), and Metal (1:20). Chase sets include: BAM! (1:10 packs), Sticker parallel (1:20); Make Believe (1:10); and Bombshells Bi-fold cards (1:10). Inserts include: Sketch cards (1:20) and Totally Fabricated costume cards (1:160). There is also a limited edition binder available which comes with an exclusive foil card.
