American Splendor made Entertainment Weekly this week in a one-page story written by Harvey Pekar, drawn by Gary Dumm, and colored by Laura Dumm. It's a story from Pekar's recent promotional trip to Cannes, in which he uses his confessional style to talk about the American Splendor film (which can't win the top Cannes award because of its win at Sundance, see 'American Splendor Wins Sundance'), his discomfort at the Riviera surroundings, and an overheard conversation among screenwriters discussing a script. The HBO film is getting a theatrical release in the States (see 'American Splendor Gets Theatrical Release') and the EW and other publicity in the runup offers greater opportunities to sell the comics and graphic novels.
