Soaring Penguin Press announced it has acquired the North American print rights for Regis Loisel’s bande dessinée Peter Pan. The American edition will be published in Fall 2014.
French comics writer and artist Loisel is best known for his art on the French comic series La Quete de l’Oiseau du Temps (The Quest for the Time-Bird) written by Serge Le Tendre. He has also worked with Walt Disney Studios on the films Atlantis and Mulan.
The Peter Pan graphic novel is a collection of Loisel’s six-volume bande dessinée, which is an original, and more adult oriented, prequel interpretation of the origin of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan books and play. Loisel’s series was originally published from 1990 to 2004 and has sold over a million copies worldwide.
