For as long as I can remember growing up, Peanuts was a part of my childhood. Every day I would read the comics to see the latest antics of Snoopy and the crew and no matter what was happening, it would always bring a smile to my face. Sadly though, all good things must come to an end and with it a part of many childhoods which included my own came to a close. That is until recently when Andrews McMeel Publishing put out a wonderful collection of Peanuts which introduces the characters to a brand new generation who may not have ever gotten the chance to meet Snoopy and friends themselves.
Coming in at over 200 full-color pages, this collection reintroduces all of the characters of the famous strip to kids and adults in a beautiful collection that does the series ample amounts of justice. This is a collection that will bring a smile to the face of those who have never read a Peanuts comic before in their life or those who are re-discovering it after being separated for far too long.
While occasionally dipping its toes in various other subjects, the main subject to be tackled within these pages is Charlie Brown's love of (and bad luck in) sports. Particularly baseball. Fans will remember fondly all the times when Charlie Brown and his team are hopelessly defeated by friends like Peppermint Patty or the time when Charlie Brown gets so wrapped up in baseball that he gets a rash on his head.
If you remember this strip fondly at all from growing up, this is a collection that belongs in your personal library. This is a fun read that should be read, re-read and then shared with others.
