Dynamite Entertainment has announced two new comic book series that will be shipping in September, a new Red Sonja miniseries, Red Sonja: The Black Tower, which will be written by Frank Tieri (Wolverine, Deadpool), and as part of its revival of the Chaos Comics properties, a new ongoing Purgatori series that will be written by Aaron Gillespie and drawn by Javier Garcia Miranda.
 
The new Red Sonja miniseries, The Black Tower, will feature art by Cezar Razek (Red Sonja/Witchblade) and covers by Amanda Connor.  Tieri notes that The Black Tower will be a sort of fantasy mystery, "more Stephen King story than your typical Red Sonja tale," though the writer notes that Red Sonja is "still this total badass, the Wolverine of her world" as she investigates a mysterious black tower that just appears and immediately creates a very unsettling effect on the locals.
 
In the first issue of Dynamite’s new Purgatori comic, the bitch-queen is trapped in Hell and quickly learns that the Devil doesn’t play games.  Can she outwit the canny Lucifer?  Dynamite plans to launch Purgatori #1 in September with a slew of additional covers by artists like Tim Seeley, Nei Ruffino, Joyce Chin, Jose Luis, and Tony Fleecs.
