IDW Games has announced an opportunity for store owners to receive the Machi Koro: Harbor Expansion (see "'Machi Koro' Expansion") two months early, with the Machi Koro Harbor Expansion Event Construction Kit, the game division’s first in-store play support kit.
The kit, which releases in September, will include a pre-release copy of the expansion for Machi Koro, which is due for release in November, as well as two sets of foil cards to be used for event prize support, two marketing posters, and an advance copy of Diamonsters. Diamonsters is another card game from the team behind Machi Koro (designer Masao Suganuma and artist Noboru Hotta) which IDW Games will be releasing in the U.S. in Q4.
IDW Games’ Marketing Manager Nate Murray confirmed that this is the model IDW Games will pursue for organized play, depending on retailer response. "We're definitely interested in organized play if that's what our gamers want. The goal is to do everything we can to support our games, and support the game shops who sell them," he said.
The kits will be available to retailers through their distributors.
