Steve Jackson Games has tapped artist Phil Foglio (Dragon Magazine, Buck Godot, Girl Genius) to illustrate a Munchkin Steampunk game that is due to be released in mid-2015. Foglio, who has demonstrated his Steampunk chops on Girl Genius, has also provided the artwork for numerous games (see "Cheapass Games Returns"), and, back in the 1990s, along with his wife Kaja, Foglio also created card art for Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering.
Little is known about the actual Munchkin Steampunk game itself, though SJG describes it as "a new core set with all new monsters (many of which are automatons armed with flamethrowers and flintlocks), treasures, and other goodies." And of course with Foglio handling the art chores, the new game will undoubtedly also contain all manner of wildly inventive alternate-history Victorian clockwork-driven inventions along with the inevitable top hats, goggles, capes, and penny farthing bicycles characteristic of the era.
