Marvel’s top characters are bringing in far more licensing revenue than DC’s, according to numbers from Licensing Letter as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The big winner is Spider-Man, which accounts for $1.3 billion in global sales, according to the report. Avengers produced about $325 million in global sales in 2013.
Revenues from DC’s top characters were much lower. DC’s top character is Batman, which produces about $494 million in global sales. Superman accounts for about $277 million in sales.
The total revenues produced from licenses by the parents also show a big spread. Disney licensing produced around $41 billion in global sales in 2013; Warners products produced only $6 billion.
