BMA Toys announced the acquisition of a controlling interest in the comic book property Deadworld from Caliber Comics.  The long running horror series encompassed more than 50 issues published from the mid-1980s through the early 1990s.  Caliber sold nearly 700,000 Deadworld comics, which chronicled the travails of group of survivors in a world in which the dead have returned to life and are led by intelligent zombies including the caustic King Zombie.

BMA Toys, which was formed by a group of ex-McFarlane Toys employees (see 'BMA Toys'), plans to continue to shop the property to movie studios and videogame companies while creating a Deadworld Website, which will detail the history of the Deadworld universe and provide inexpensive downloads of Deadworld comics.

Gary Reed, who headed up Caliber Comics, and Gary Francis are currently writing a Deadworld novel.  BMA Toys has not yet announced a line of Deadworld action figures, but work has already begun on the King Zombie figure, and details should be released soon.
