Palisades Toys has announced the acquisition of the Factory X brand of prop replicas and collectibles. Palisades will take over the brand name 'Factory X,' the Factory X intellectual property, the website, and selected licenses from its library. Factory X's comic -based licenses are of particular interest to pop culture retailers, but since most licensors will have the option whether or not to continue under the Palisades umbrella, it will take some time before the exact lineup of products that will be produced under the Palisades owned Factory X brand is revealed.
In a press release announcing the acquisition, Mike Horn, Palisades President and CEO, outlined Palisades' plans for the various Factory X product lines, 'Our intention is to continue to market our new prop replica products under the 'Factory X' brand name and to produce statues and busts under our Palisades brand. Factory X will live on as a Palisades brand.' Former Factory X President Tim Wenhold and the Factory X staff will stay on in a consulting capacity.
The acquisition makes sense for Palisades Toys since Palisades' product lines such as The Muppets, and Micronauts toys and its Transformers, G.I. Joe and Aliens resins primarily appeal to collectors, the same audience targeted by Factory X's high-end prop replicas. Palisades Toys has had lots of experience in producing a wide variety of products for the collector market ranging from limited edition resin sculptures to a multi-award-winning line of action figures and playsets for the Muppets.
