Media Blasters, the anime distributor of Rurouni Kenshin, the Twelve Kingdoms and other popular series, has announced its first manga release, The Skyscrapers of Oz. No details about the date of release or the price of this volume are available yet, but there is no doubt that Media Blasters is going right to the cutting edge with this manga series illustrated by Takakura Row and written by Yoshino Somei.
The Skyscrapers of Oz is a 'yaoi' manga -- a subgenre of shoujo (girl's) comics dealing with good-looking boys who are in love with each other and are not afraid to show it. In The Skyscrapers of Oz, the central characters are the detectives Mari and Youichi. Youichi loves Mari's brother Miyuki, and Miyuki's classmate Yuu may have a fatal attraction for Mari. It should be interesting to see how Media Blasters rates The Skyscrapers of Oz, which was originally published in Japan in 2001 by Chara Comics.
