Ross Rojek, head of the Comics & Comix chain and CEO of Another Universe.com, has run afoul of more than just disgruntled comic book collectors and fans of the TV series, My So-Called Life.  According to the Associated Press, the 36-year-old ex-comic retailer and would-be pop culture entrepreneur has been arrested by the FBI on fraud charges.  The charges stem from Rojek's operation of Face Information Technology, known as Face IT.  Rojek purportedly told investors his company was developing a face recognition software system that would match facial images to a database, but according to an FBI spokesperson, 'it doesn't seem to be anything he was seriously working on.'  According to the FBI the prospectus Rojek produced for Face IT included bogus biographies of the company's management team claiming that they were all experienced 'former executives of Netscape Communications.'

The FBI also told the AP that Rojek ran the American Equity Group LLC 'under the alias of Jason Williams,' but did not indicate whether or not American Equity was involved in the wire and mail fraud charges.  Icv2 readers will remember that Rojek took over the foundering Internet retailer Another Universe and alienated his customer base and fans of the My So Called Life TV series (thanks to an 'exclusive DVD') to such an extent that a group of disgruntled consumers was angry enough to create the anotheruniversesucks.org Website (see 'Another Universe Gets 'Sucks' Site').  Needless to say that Website is in full celebratory mode today.
