Former DC Comics president Carmine Infantino sued the company in Manhattan federal court last week, alleging that he owns Flash, Batgirl, and other characters and asking for monetary damages and ownership of the characters. The suit says that Infantino's recreation of the Flash in 1956 for Showcase #4 (the comic that launched the Silver Age), his creation of Batgirl in the 60s, and other work should be considered his intellectual property. His attorney was quoted in Newsday as saying that Infantino gave DC permission to use the Flash in comics, but not in other media.
