January 19^th, 2001.  The second Spawn movie will not be made by New Line Cinema.   New Line was the brash new kid on the block back in 1997 when the studio took a chance and made the first Spawn film.  But in spite of the critical and box office success of the initial Spawn movie, New Line let their rights lapse and Columbia snapped them up.

Producer Don Murphy grabbed Todd McFarlane's vengeance-seeking zombie for his Sony-based Angry Films unit.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project is on the fast track with McFarlane and screenwriter Steve Niles collaborating on a script for the as-yet-unnamed opus.
