Buena Vista is preparing to launch a four-disk box set edition containing the entire 26 episodes of the 1990s Fantastic Four Animated Series, which aired from September of 1994 to February of 1996.  The 30-minute FF episodes appeared as part of the Marvel Action Hour along with Iron Man.  The first season featured introductions by Stan Lee, while the second season (generally acknowledged as a major improvement thanks to better writing, slicker animation and more mature plots) did not.  A number of the episodes were direct remakes of the 15-episode Hanna-Barbera Fantastic Four series from the late 1960s (a DePatie-Freleng FF series, which featured a robot named H.E.R.B.I.E. instead of the Human Torch aired in the mid-1970s).

Buena Vista plans to release the four-disk FF Box Set on July 5th just prior to the opening of 20th Century Fox's blockbuster adaptation of the Fantastic Four, which debuts on July 8th.  Marvel has announced a new Fantastic Four animated series, which will be produced by the French animation studio, Antefilms (see 'Marvel Widens Distribution') and which will debut in late 2006.
