New Hollywood news has hit the wire, and it's time for a round-up!

Netflix has cancelled Dead Boy Detectives, according to Variety.  The only season of this series, based on a comic series by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, started streaming on April 25, 2024 (see "'Dead Boy Detectives' Teasers").

Paramount Pictures unleashed a new trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (see below).  This third Sonic movie, starring Ben Scwartz, Jim Carrey, and Keanu Reeves, heads to theaters on December 20, 2024 (see "Best in Shows -- 2024").

Edgar Bronfman Jr. has dropped his late bid for Paramount, allowing the previously announced acquisition by Skydance Media (see "Skydance Gets Paramount") to go forward, according to Variety.  The Bronfman bid came in during a go-shop period allowed by the agreement with Skydance.  The Skydance acquisition is now expected to close in the first half of 2025.

Disney+ released a new trailer for Agatha All Along (see below).  The series will begin streaming on September 18, 2024 (see "'Agatha All Along'").

Warner Bros. released a trailer for Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (see below), a documentary about the actor who played Superman (see "Reeve") in the Richard Donner films.

The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, a coalition associated with the Motion Picture Association, in cooperation with the Hanoi Police, has shut down the largest video piracy ring in the world, the organization announced.  The shuttering of the pirates' network took down the popular Aniwave anime website, causing the operators to release the following message on their site: "Creating better products that provide an improved user experience and fostering competition to drive the market to enhance products is something we are very happy about.  Now that everything has improved ... it is also time for us to say goodbye."  Other sites operated by the network included Fmoviesz.to, bflixz, flixtorz, movies7, and myflixer.  The sites drew over 6.7 billion visits between January 2023 and June 2024.

FilmNation is shopping around an adaptation of the 4 Kids Walk into a Bank graphic novel, according to Deadline.  This project, developed by Eric Feig's Picturestart (see "'4 Kids Walk Into a Bank'"), is also in talks to attach Liam Neeson to lead the project.
