Mad is launching two spin-off magazines, and supporting sales of the new and existing titles with several major promotions.  The first issue of Mad Classics was released this month, with 100 full-color pages of reprised material; it's planned for eight issues per year.  MadKids, targeted at 6-11 year-olds, will launch in November with a mixture of old and new material; it's planned for quarterly release, and will be supported with ads in DC's kids line.

Several promotions are planned to support sales.  Akins Motorsports' #38 NASCAR Busch Series car, driven by Kasey Kahne, will feature a MadKids paint job in October.  Action Performance will manufacture premium die-cast cars and MadKids racing products.

MadKids will be featured in 2400 Great Clips hair salons throughout the launch period, the magazine will carry a Great Clips coupon, and MadKids and Great Clips will sponsor a contest, the winner of which will be depicted in a future issue of MadKids.

Mad is sponsoring this summer's Warped Music Tour, Dew Action Sports Tour, and GameRiot Videogaming Tour.  Promotional activities on the tours include Mad caricatures, signage and displays, magazine samplers, giveaways, and subscription incentives.

And from August 15th to September 15th, White Castle restaurants will give away three mini-Mad magazines and subscription coupons at its 395 stores, which will display a Spy vs. Spy/White Castle poster.  Mad's October issue will carry White Castle coupons.
