Dynamite Entertainment has announced an agreement with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group to publish comic books based on the classic Battlestar Galactica TV series from the 1970s.  Recently Dynamite announced a comic book series based on the new Sci Fi Channel Battlestar Galactica series, written by Greg Pak (see 'Greg Pak To Write Battlestar Galactica').  Dynamite hopes to begin publishing the Pak-penned comic series sometime in the second quarter of 2006.  The creative team and launch dates for the comic based on the classic BSG TV series will be announced in the next few weeks.

The original 36-episode Battlestar Galactica TV series, which appeared on network TV in 1978 and 1979 is now running on the Sci Fi Channel along with the new BSG series, which has just been renewed for a third season (see 'Battlestar Galactica Renewed').

With a second BSG comic book series Dynamite adds to its growing stable of licensed comic series that also includes Xena, Red Sonja, The Lone Ranger, Highlander, and Army of Darkness.
