Jim Brocius of Cosmic Comics in Las Vegas, Nevada saw the comments by Dean Phillips on the scary prospect of comics in Wal-Mart (see 'Dean Phillips of Krypton Comics on Wal-Mart'), and has a hard time believing that it's really a threat:

Before Marvel and DC can not just get, but also respond to the phone call from Wal-Mart, a few other factors need to be in place.  These include but are not necessarily limited to: single issue stories, reliable shipping of product, wider diversity of subject matter, truly creative content under work for hire conditions and a reversal of the decades long decline in reading as an entertainment choice.  I suppose that all these things are theoretically possible, but I have a hard time believing we'll see any one of these things happen in any meaningful way, let alone all of them.
