Richard Kelly's Southland Tales will premiere at Cannes, and will be in competition for the event's top prize.  This will set the stage for the film's fall release, and start the press coverage that will support sales of licensed products based on the film (see 'Graphitti's 2006 Movie Publishing Program'). 

X-Men:  The Last Stand will be one of three 'Gala Screenings' at the festival, which will be held May 17th-28th.  It's scheduled to open in the U.S. on May 26th.     

No anime films or shorts are scheduled to be screened at the event.
